A derelict cottage and attached steading was completely renovated to provide a self-contained holiday cottage.

Old earth floors were dug out, the building was re-roofed, and existing stone walls were underpinned or rebuilt.

A simple carport at the gable end provides a sheltered entrance and useful outdoor storage.

The conversion retains much of the character of the original building.
